Premium Remy vs Cuticle Remy vs Fully Cuticle-Intact Remy: What Buyers Should Know

Premium Remy is Prime Human Hair's more processed professional Remy grade. The raw-material requirement is moderate compared with the higher cuticle-retention grades.

During production, Premium Remy uses a stronger acid-processing route that removes a larger proportion of the original cuticle layer. As a production reference, around 60% of the original cuticle structure may remain. The result is a smoother feel and relatively easy handling.

Premium Remy is often suitable for buyers who want professional human hair at a more cost-efficient level without requiring maximum cuticle retention.

Premium Remy finishing may include silicone oil. Silicone finishing can create a very smooth initial hand feel, but that smoothness can reduce after repeated washing as the silicone gradually washes away and the underlying condition of the hair becomes more visible. Buyers should not evaluate hair only by how slippery or glossy it feels when first removed from the package.

Cuticle Remy uses a lighter cuticle-removal process than Premium Remy. The raw-material requirement is higher, and more of the original cuticle structure is retained. As an approximate production reference, cuticle retention is around 85%.

The finished feel is closer to natural human hair and less artificially smooth than a more heavily processed grade. Prime Human Hair evaluates Cuticle Remy after repeated washing for manageable handling and overall hair condition. The production expectation is that the hair should not show unacceptable snagging, tangling or breakage under the intended test conditions.

Cuticle Remy finishing may also include silicone oil depending on the production route and required finish. Professional buyers should distinguish temporary surface smoothness from the actual condition of the hair beneath that finish and test the hair after washing rather than relying only on first-touch feel.

Fully Cuticle-Intact Remy is Prime Human Hair's highest cuticle-retention grade. It belongs to the Cuticle Remy quality family but uses more selective raw material, lighter and more tightly controlled processing, and a production route designed to preserve the original cuticle structure to the greatest practical extent.

As an approximate production reference, more than 95% of the original cuticle structure is retained. The main hair shaft does not undergo strong-acid cuticle removal.

The finished hair has a more natural cuticle feel and may appear slightly more matte or less artificially slippery than heavily processed hair. It also retains more of the hair's natural oil and moisture characteristics. Fully Cuticle-Intact Remy is normally produced with minimal or no silicone-oil finishing.

Very smooth hair is often assumed to be higher quality, but natural human hair is not perfectly slippery. Hair with a very high level of cuticle retention can feel more natural, slightly more textured and less polished than hair that has undergone heavier processing or silicone finishing.

That does not make the hair a lower grade. Fully Cuticle-Intact Remy may show mild tangling after repeated washing because more of the natural cuticle structure remains. With appropriate conditioner, the hair should become easier to comb and manage.

This differs from heavily processed hair that feels extremely smooth initially because much of the cuticle has been removed or a surface treatment is creating temporary slip.

The main hair shaft of Fully Cuticle-Intact Remy does not undergo strong-acid cuticle removal. This does not mean every finished extension product is completely free from any localised treatment.

Some extension constructions that rely on adhesive bonding may require localised treatment at the attachment area. Tape-In and some Genius Weft constructions may receive localised treatment on approximately 1–2 cm of the attachment end to improve bonding between the hair and adhesive.

This treatment is specific to the attachment structure and should not be confused with overall cuticle-removal processing.

Review product-specific quality-control points

Not necessarily. Raw, Virgin, Remy and Cuticle are not interchangeable terms. A hair product can have high cuticle retention and still undergo colour development or other controlled manufacturing processes. Very light blonde shades, for example, require colour processing.

Buyers should ask what each supplier means by its grade rather than assuming that similar marketing names represent identical production routes.

These are Prime Human Hair's internal production references, not universal industry definitions. Another supplier may use the same grade names differently.

A buyer may receive three quotations that all say 22-inch / 100 g / Remy Human Hair, but the products may still be very different.

A lower quotation may reflect heavier processing, lower cuticle retention, less selective raw material, different colour processing, different end fullness, different net hair weight or different consistency standards. This does not mean the lower quotation is wrong. It means price should only be compared after the product specification is aligned.

Connect the grade definition to private-label development

At Prime Human Hair, the preferred development process is Specification → Sample → Testing → Approval → Repeat-production benchmark. This makes future production easier to compare and reduces ambiguity between buyer and manufacturer.
