PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Tape-In Product Development

Depending on the project, Tape-In products may include different tape and hair-placement constructions.

Compare tab construction, hair placement and single-piece versus pack specifications in our Invisible Tape-In vs Regular Tape-In wholesale guide.

The selected design should reflect:

  • intended salon application
  • desired visual result
  • attachment dimensions
  • hair distribution
  • product weight
  • target market

Approve the tape construction, replacement system and texture together

Tape-In manufacturing decisions beyond the product name
ConstructionApproval focus
Classic Tape-InTab dimensions, edge finish, near-base hair distribution and individual-piece weight
Invisible / InjectedActual hair emergence around the base and coverage on the chosen reference; the terms do not prove identical constructions
Genius Tape-InSelected attachment design, flexibility and dimensions, assessed separately from Genius Weft
Long-Strip Tape-InWhole-strip dimensions, total hair distribution and strip/pack units, not a small-tab weight assumption

For applicable small-tab projects, 2g, 2.5g, 3g and 4g per piece are development examples, not approved options for every base. Record net hair and finished-piece weight separately, then reconcile the individual-piece count with the pack total.

Replacement tape and packaging

Record the replacement-tape dimensions, adhesive format, removal materials and preparation instructions approved for the base. Evaluate attachment and replacement as part of the sample plan with the intended professional; a successful hair wash test alone does not approve the adhesive system. Confirm liners, storage guidance and product labels before packaging release.

Wavy and curly Tape-In development

Straight, wavy and curly enquiries are accepted. Use the existing Tape-In lookbook to identify a reference, then record the dry pattern, measured-length condition and agreed wash-and-dry observations. Confirm your chosen length, shade and attachment together on the finished sample.

CONSTRUCTION & HANDLING

Compare the attachment, not only the shade

Classic, injected and long-strip products do not share one assumed tab specification. Compare the attachment surface and hair distribution close to it. Record the selected dimensions and piece configuration before comparing sample quotations.

  • Tab width, height and attachment profile
  • Hair-only weight per piece and pack count
  • Replacement tape and removal procedure
  • Separate records for attachment and hair performance

COLOUR DEVELOPMENT

Colour & Root Development

Tape-In ranges commonly require a broad colour assortment. We can discuss:

  • solid shades
  • rooted shades
  • blends
  • highlights
  • dimensional colours
  • customised references

MATERIALS & COLOURS

Approve the material and colour on the finished product

Approve rooted, blended or dimensional colour on the finished Tape-In piece. Hair close to the attachment contributes to the visible result, so a loose colour swatch does not replace the finished reference.

Use a physical colour ring, swatch or extension. Approve the shade and placement on the finished construction; screen photographs communicate direction.

SAMPLE & APPROVAL

Start your Tape-In Extensions sample brief

Choose a Tape-In construction and share the tab or product reference, usable length, colour and quantity. If known, add the hair-only weight per piece, pack count and replacement-tape requirements.

Build a Tape-In specification →

  1. Share the reference and product details you already know.
  2. Review feasibility, sample quantity, price and timing for the actual specification.
  3. Evaluate the physical sample and agree the written construction, colour and packaging record.
  4. Use the approved sample and specification version for the bulk-production review.

Sample quantity and lead time are confirmed for the product, material and colour. Confirm when the timing starts and keep production time separate from shipping.

FAQ

Questions from professional buyers.

What Makes a Premium Tape-In Hair Extension?

A premium Tape-In is not defined by the hair alone.

The buyer should evaluate hair quality, tab dimensions, hair distribution near the tape, adhesive coverage, tab flexibility, weight per piece, residue after removal and performance during normal application and maintenance. The hair and the attachment system should be tested as one complete product.

Is Stronger Tape-In Adhesive Always Better?

No. A professional Tape-In adhesive should balance secure wear, clean removal and practical replacement. Test it using the intended hair preparation, installation, maintenance and removal process. Record wear stability, residue, tab condition and ease of removal before approving the complete Tape-In system.

What Is the Difference Between Classic, Invisible and Injection Tape-In?

Classic Tape-In normally presents hair below a visible attachment tab. Invisible and Injection Tape-In constructions place or distribute hair closer to the attachment surface to create a more concealed finish. Buyers should compare tab thickness, hair placement, adhesive coverage, weight per piece, edge finish and removal behaviour on physical samples.

What Should Be Tested Before Approving Tape-In Production?

Check tab size, weight per piece, adhesive coverage, tab alignment, hair distribution, colour, edge finish and removal behaviour.

A practical test should also evaluate adhesion after the intended installation procedure and inspect residue and tab condition during removal.
